Psalm 9:10 (NIVUK)
Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
This summer at our 5pm services we are going to preach through a selection of Psalms known as the Trust Psalms or Songs of trust. Although the word trust might not appear in the psalm directly “Songs of trust are dominated by their emphasis on trusting God and the security that this trust in God produces.”
Psalm 9:10 will be our anthem verse for the series. It emphasis that the things we know about the LORD should lead us to trust in the LORD.
The summer series won’t be able to cover all the trust psalms but will give a good selection of this particular genre of the psalms.
Our hope is that these songs from God will give us renewed reasons to trust God in the different situations we all face. And they might give us renewed words to express that trust to God in the different seasons of our life.
We also hope these Psalms will give us great love for Jesus the one who perfectly trusted his heavenly Father even into the hardest and darkest place of betrayal, the cross, and death itself.
