Commencing 3rd September 2023 at our 5PM Services
2 Peter is written by a man who knows he doesn’t have long left to live (1:14). It is written to believers scattered throughout “Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia.” Peter wants to stimulate them to “wholesome thinking” (3:1) about what they already have through faith in Jesus, the certainty of the message they have believed and heard from Peter, and also about the real danger of false teachers. In this letter he pushes them to diligence and growth in the Christian life. This is all framed with an eye on the second coming of Jesus. As we listen, this letter will do the same for us in our Christian life as we continue in the teaching of Peter and the other apostles.
